I created this mini recipe book to help busy families make simple and delicious family meals — and to raise money for a charity close to my heart. For each printed copy sold, $10 goes to Foodbank Victoria, Victoria's oldest and largest food relief organisation, which has supported Victorians through everyday emergencies and times of crisis for over 90 years.
These recipes are flexible, and ingredients can easily be swapped so you can vary them and minimise washing up. Most can be made cheaply or adapted to use whatever seasonal fruit and vegetables you have on hand.
These recipes are child friendly. As most children go through a fussy stage, getting them involved in the kitchen is one strategy to help them feel involved and empowered with their eating — ask them, for example, whether they'd like cherries or blueberries in their porridge, or carrot or zucchini in their meal.
Whether you avoid gluten or dairy, or follow a plant-based diet, most recipes can be adapted to suit — tips on substitutions are included with each recipe below.
With love from Laura x — and a huge thank you to everyone who tries these recipes and supports Foodbank Victoria in doing so.
